Peace Corps Cambodia K14 Secondary Projects
Peace Corps volunteers (PCV) worldwide collaborate with host country nationals to identify community needs and develop projects that address them. These initiatives range from library development and sports programs to health and sanitation improvements. The Peace Corps Cambodia Media Committee visited volunteers’ sites to document and share the successes of these projects.
PVC SAFEENA - LIBRARY DEVELOPMENT
Meet Saffeena, a primary school English teacher who launched English clubs early in her Peace Corps service. Over time, she recognized the challenges of teaching young students without adequate classroom space or materials to support their learning. For her secondary project, Saffeena worked with other teachers at her school to secure funding to transform her village’s library in Kampong Cham, Cambodia. The project added essential resources for both, the students and teachers. Watch as new books, furniture, and technology breathe life into a once-neglected part of the primary school, creating a vibrant learning space for the entire community.

PCV Joleen - Greenhouse & Water Irrigation System
Joleen, a Peace Corps volunteer in Battambang, Cambodia, saw firsthand how the intense local climate was impacting her high school’s garden, making it difficult to grow healthy plants. In response, she partnered with students and teachers to secure funding for a greenhouse and water irrigation system to protect the garden from the heat. This project now provides students with valuable hands-on training in sustainable agriculture and offers the community fresh, chemical-free produce. Watch how this new garden has blossomed into a resource for learning and healthy living in her community.
